Youtube is the second most popular search engine. Even though it is NOT a search engine! In today’s Internet Age you must have a video presence if you want to be competitive.
Transcript of Video above:
It’s official, Youtube garners enough searches to put it into the #2 slot behind Google as the second most popular search engine. Which could be really good news, or really bad news for you.
The big irony of Youtube being the second most popular search engine is it is not a search engine. It only searches itself. So why are people coming to search for things on Youtube? Simple. People don’t want to read, they want to watch. And now people are not just looking for cute cat videos. Youtube’s parent Google reports that Youtube searches are more and more about products and services.
Take me for example. I bought a motorcycle a few years ago and I wanted to add aftermarket exhaust to it. I cared more how the new pipes would sound than how they looked. Since I couldn’t find a single manufacturer with video I went to Youtube and then based my decision on which product to buy on an amateur’s post! All of the marketing dollars these companies spent made no difference in my decision, because they didn’t provide me the content in the format I preferred.
Fast forward a few years and now many of these companies do have video content on both Youtube and their websites, because they want to be found. How about YOU? If someone goes to Youtube to search for what you offer will they find you? And will they find a professional video that represents you in the most positive way possible or some awful iPhone video that destroys your image?
Youtube is a powerhouse. You need to be on it. And you need to have a professional presence there that will have prospects going from Youtube to your website and then to their checkbooks.
